So called experts will tell you we only use around 10% of our brain. Dont ask me how they work it out I aint brainy enough.

The answer is: nearly all of it! But for many reasons we typically only use very small and specific portions at any one time. Large areas of the brain may become active; for example, during an epileptic seizure.

Thinking is very energy intensive, and the brain is easily the largest consumer of energy in our body. Our body makes a huge investment in order to keep our giant brains running, and this may at least party explains the notorious human sweet tooth, and why we a tendency to eat more food than we normally need.

Areas of the brain that are used little or not at all will typically degenerate slowly, just like muscles will, if not used.

If your brain has zero defects then you are using it 100%. But its parts are devided into different functions. If you are asking how much of your brain do you use to think, scientists revealed that your concious mind uses only 10% of that mass in your skull. The rest is what we call the subconcious, the part of the brain that we can't control and is still the focus of massive valuable researches. There's a whole lot that we don't know about us. We should not be afraid to ask. There are no such thing as a stupid question, only arrogant reactions from ignorant people who have the illusion that they know everything. It is our responsibility as human beings to keep searching for the truth. Thanks for doing your part.

Serious brain researchers say that while we perhaps don't use our brains as efficiently as we might, there's no evidence we have vast unused abilities.

All the parts of the brain do something, they're just not in use all the time.

the answer 10% is all wrong. it's just a myth. in fact, everyone uses all areas of our brians.
think about it, if we just used 10% of our brians, we would have to squeeze everything in that 10%. that means we use 2% for thinking, 1% for reading, 1% for speaking, ect. and where does the rest of the whopping 90% go? it's a proven fact that we all use our whole brians, but no one has ever proofed we only use a portion.

I think we use alot of a brainpower for the part of the brain that is the mind. But I'm not sure how much we use that creates einstein thoughts.

After our first few months, we use the whole thing. Been proven with imaging studies. Not that those bozos from a century ago who said various things from 3 to10% ever had evidence anyway.
