It winds me up when someone standing on a red carpet going to a lavish party, tells me by turning down my thermostat will help reduce my carbon imprint, When they have just flown in from their 3rd home in LA and been dropped off in their stretch limo. What do you think. Or am i just getting old and grumpy.

It annoys me to no end. Especially when they get so much information wrong.

It also amazes me how once they make a movie about whatever topic, they suddenly become EXPERTS in it. Not just well-versed, which I sometimes might buy, but EXPERTS. Expert enough to educate everyone else about it, including the real experts.

I think they do so much more damage than they realize, because their information is so wrong. For example, now everyone's jumping on the global warming bandwagon and giving advice, when even many scientists still are trying to determing what is involved in global warming and how much is just cyclical trends. But all the celebrities KNOW THE ANSWERS!

Arrgh. Great question. Thanks for letting me vent!!!!

By the way, I think the celebrities would be so respected if, for example, they just didn't have parties after the Oscars. If the entire entertainment community came together and said, "This Oscar party costs about $5 million (or whatever) to put on, so instead we're donating this to XXX." All of the party stuff is donated by companies anyway, so just let everyone donate their money instead. And don't give the celebrities $10,000 goodie bags. Send that money to Hurricane Katrina restoration. Or whatever.

Just shut up and put up.

Why don't they donate money to all help us make the change to solar energy for our homes and apartments?

Why don't they donate money to get alternative cars running alternative fuel?

THat would be more productive than buying that 5th vacation home. Or planning that 5 million dollar wedding for the 4th time.

Pride. Then, what are they going to do when our plannet blows up? Blame it on all us poor people who scrape to just buy a loaf of bread?

Yeah, you are not just old and grumpy, I'm young and I agree with you- you old grump.

You're right. Since when do celebrities have the moral upper ground. Just 'cos you can write a half decent song, book, or look nice on camera doesn't give you the right to lord it up on the rest of us who live in the real world. I suggest you exact revenge and toast yourself by a nice roaring fire.

Yeah, especially when they live in huge mansions that cost £1,000s to light and heat, fly everywhere in private jets, own about 20 cars each and those that have been around since the 80s contributed greatly to the original hole in the Ozone layer with all the hairspray they used to keep their mullets in shape.

Yes Bono I'm looking at YOU . . .

Totally - it is a bit much when you take into account things like - How many cars they have etc etc.

WHAT REALLY TICKS ME OFF is when you have celebs telling us that WE should dip into our pockets and support this charity.

Now I'm not talking about Bob Geldof, I'm on about the A Listers, sitting in their multi million £ / $ houses saying "a few extra pence out of your wages" etc etc

You're not grumpy...just cynical...and rightly so. There's TOO MANY people in Hollywood that think their celebrity status makes their personal political opinions count more than the average person's (at least, if it's an average Republican person!)

yes i agree and I also can't stand these TV adverts by has beens and Z list celebrities adverting credit cards, loans, funeral insurance , equity release etc. etc. etc. Regarding these loans does anybody ever stop to think how long 120/240/360 monthly payments is i.e. 10/20/30 yrs and look at the total they are paying
in comparison to what they borrow .

It used to kinda bother me, but now I just consider the source--It's not like its coming from a person educated in that field. These are just play actors! No intelligent person would really give a flip what they think about environment or politics. What does that say about the typical American? LOL!

What is worse is the so called 'Bono's' of the world preaching to us. Then in the next instance they are up on stage, in a stadium, full on lighting and amplifiers etc burning electricity...helping to use fuel and increase emissions!!

Yeah I start frothing at the mouth if I hear Michael Jackson's Earth Song. Stop wasting millions on monkeys and funfairs and general tat and spend it on the planet if you care that much!
