I'm rooting for Florida tonight because Ohio State's athletic director is one of the main opponents to a playoff. Besides if Florida wins Boise State we be the only undefeated team. That'll be one more argument to have a playoff.
Some of you will say that congress can't do this, but congress can make any laws that it wants and if they aren't constitutional they can even propose amendments. Plus they've got federal tax dollars to hammer the schools with. The question isn't can it be done. The question is should it be done.

personally, i think congress should get involved b/c you know that the university presidents won't change the format. if congress can put it's nose in the baseball-steriod controversy, then they can definitely put their 2 cents into the college football playoff (or lack thereof) problems. some people said it right...that there's too much money involved. and it's true, it's all about the money which is sickening.
then again, the government probably gets a huge amount of money from taxes that each bowl pays out, so why would they mess with that?

No congress will not and shall not force the NCAA D-1A schools to compete in playoff formats. The NCAA makes way too much profit around the board for this to even be a question. The conferences and schools thrive so much on bowl games due to the income that they receive. Players and coaches are the main people arguing for playoff systems due to the fact they are actually trying to win games in a fair manner. However, the Big Ten president will not allow this to happen since he sees the dollar signs. We will not see a playoff system for several years to come. Especially now that Florida and Ohio State players are asking for money in participating in the National Championship. That is ridiculous to even consider. Bowl games are designed to keep the season short so that the players have better futures and less likely to get injured. Bowl games are designed to maximize ticket sales, revenue, and publicity. Bowl games are here to stay for at least another six years.

I am for having a playoff system, but Congress shouldn't get involved. Let the NCAA take care of it. But if I had my way with it, the winners of every conference should be in that playoff. You can keep the bowl games for the other teams, but only conference champs should fight to see who is the best in the country.

If not congress somebody needs to. After the Boise state game and the mishandling of Wisconsin this year by the bcs there is no way any body can argue against a playoff. If the smaller schools and high schools can get it right than anybody can.

Congress has other things to deal with ie the iraq war...... but i do think that college football NEEDS to have a playoff system. when my Univ of Utah Utes busted into the BCS and had to play pitts....that was an insult.i think they could have taken USC. they deserved a shot at the title. same with BYU and Boise State. we NEED some kind of a playoff system. GO UTES!

NO it shouldn't. Let the colleges do it the way they choose. If you are TRULY against the way it is set up then boycott the game. Don't watch NCAA Football anymore at the top level. Also don't buy anything that supports the top level teams.

I think Congress has bigger problems. When they fix the war in Iraq, solve the national debt, raise the minimum, and end political corruption, maybe then they can worry about football. Maybe.
