Suppose that you want 25% of 150.0:
work out what 1% of 150.0 is first,by moving the decimal point two places to the left. This gives you 1.5. This is 1%, but you want 25%
so you multiply 1.5 by 25 which gives you 37.5 which is 25% of 150.
The easiest way to work out decimals is by reading the handbook of; and using a scientific calculator. Plug in e.g. 1/3 you will get out
0.3333 and vice versa.

If its converting percentage to decimals just move the decimal two places to the left and now you have the decimal equivalent.
The reverse also is true. Decimal to percentage - move the decimal two places to the right.

What percentage is a small number of a big number. 100 divided by Big number, mutliplied by small number = percent.
e.g. what percentage is 30 of 200. 100 / 200 * 30. = 15%
What is 200 plus 15%, add 15 to 100, divide by 100 and multiply. 200 * 1.15 = 230.
Gets easier with practice.

% to decimal: % means per hundred. To change to decimal, drop the % sign & move decimal point 2 places to the left.
Ex 37% = 0.37 [37 hundredths]
Ex. 16.5% = 0.165
To convert decimal to %, add the % sign and move the decimal point 2 places to the right.
Ex. 0.125 = 12.5%
Ex 0.5 = 50%

You can find out the % of anything if you rember that
100% of 100 = 100
50% of 100 = 50
25% of 100 = 25
1% of 100 = 10
eg. 17.5% vat of say £60
10% = £6.00
5% = £3.00
2.5% =£1.50
total = £10.50 + £60 = £70.50
