If you have a china teapot a really great way to clean it is to fill it with hot water and drop in a denture cleaning tablet. No aftertaste and it will clean it right up. And it's very easy. Makes sense when you think about it, doesn't it?

To clean it, try the fizzy tablets old people use on their dentures.
Do you mean teapot or tea kettle? A tea kettle is the thing you put on the stove to boil the water. You're never supposed to brew anything inside it. A teapot is the thing in which you brew the tea and pour it out. It doesn't go on the stove.
If I've repeated something you already knew, no offense; I just wanted to clarify, in case that was the problem.

A little bit of warm water, lemon juice and add some ice cubes...swirl it around in the teapot for about 5 minutes.

It sounds like you have limescale in your kettle. To clean it off, pour in 1/2 cup each of white vinegar and water, or the same proportions in whatever amount needed to cover the element. Bring to a boil, then let it set with the mixture inside, overnight. Wash out the next day, and it's ready to use.

Like a coffee maker kinda tea pot?
Instead of running water through the pot run vinegar once or twice. Then run water through and now try making the tea.

Depending on what material the tea-pot is made of, try a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Those things are wonderful. I even use it on my Stainless Steal pots and pans.
