I need answers for:

give one similarity and one difference of these body parts:

a) esophagus/small intestine
b) mouth/stomach
c) large intestine/esophagus

I am a nurse so I hope this helps:
A. both propel food down the gi system but the small intestine digests food also while the esophagus doesn't
B. Food breakdown occurs both in the mouth and stomach but in the mouth saliva does it and in the stomach hydrochloric acid does it.
C. same as A but also both are collapseable and only the large intestine absorbs water, while the esophagus doesn't.

the above statements are all true apart from the sentence that the hydrochloric acid digests food this is not true. enzyme are responsible for digestion of food. hydrochloric acid play a more defensive roll in reducing the amount of bacteria that enter the GI track.
