If they let the president and the Republicans get away with it this time, it probably means that the Dems are spineless mush-for brains, and they will deserve to lose the 2008 election big time. Isn't that the plan?

That would put the Republicans back in and in that case you would get your wars with Iran and North Korea.

Spending for 2007 is already set. We will spend $498 billion on defense in 2007. The Iraq occupation will cost working class tax payers $2 trillion. Bush has ask for $100 billion for Iraq back in 2006, he did not get that money. Congress in the past approved the search for WMD and the removal of Saddam. Congress has never approved the occupation of Iraq, nor has a declaration of war with Iraq ever been passed in Congress. The 2008 elections are a long way off and Democrats need to do what voters have ask them to do. Pelosi has made it clear Bush will not get a blank check and no questions ask free pass as he did under Republican control. Pelosi has said she will do the duty she has of oversight by Congress.

There will have to be concessions made on both sides. Bush cannot get what he wants without Democratic support. The Dems cannot be made to look like the bad guys by cutting off funding for the war. I would expect to see funding for the war get approved, but would expect to see the Dems push Bush into coming up with a withdrawal plan before approving the funding.

Yes! They need to develop some back bone which Democrats have not had in a while! They have been wishie washie for a long time and that is the reason Republicans have won. If they want to win in 2008 and gain the respect of American people then they need to identify what they stand for and fight for it. I wish they would stand up against the Bush administration!

They could have cut off all funding for the war today. After 14 years out of power, what are they doing today? After three days of being in control of both houses, they're taking a day off so the members can catch the football game tonight.

Sounds like you're saying neither the Dems or the Repubs are sincere or care about the country.

Cynical is no way to go through life. Try the positive once in a while.

They will and should send the additional troops to Iraq. They have kind of painted themselves into a corner with the passage of PAY-GO though.

It's s dilemna. Either they please their base by de-funding the war and get seen as traitors by much of the country, or do what Bush asks and lose their base.

Time will tell.
