If I knew how to prevent a computer from crashing, I would not have a job. LOL.

Computers crash for any number of reasons which are both hard and software related. Hardware problems can be related a range of conditions from (a poorly manufactured product to physical phenomena such as "Tin Wiskers). Software products can be poorly designed as well. In addition, there is the introduction of viruses, malware, and adware that can cause problems. The last of course is user error.

GOOD LUCK!

There are many different components inside the average computer which are capable of causing problems. The most common culprit is the disk drive which is usually what the term 'crash' references. That is because there are moving parts in disk crives that can rub against each other. There is a certain sound associated with disk crashes which is usually a high pitch whine. Unfortunately, there are non-movable parts which can also cause problems which are usually called 'cratering' but some people also say they are 'crashing'. Some people even call software problems 'crashes' although there are other terms which are much more descriptive. That is why computer repair services can charge such high prices for fixing computer systems because there is no such thing as prevention. However, you can make the problem worse by doing stupid things like mucking aroung inside the box.

Do you mean crash or freeze? To me, when a computer crashes it is shot, like a burnt out light bulb - useless. If you have your PC long enough, that day will come. That's why we backup important files.

When a computer merely freezes, it means we have issued conflicting commands or tried to do something the program does not allow, or it is just having a bad hair day. Just restart and take note of what you are doing.

Ahh...Yep...uninstall lime wire. If it installed with a Windows Installer go to MS's website and download the Windows Uninstaller that way you get it all. If not go to Control Panel-Add and Remove programs Wait for it to load find LimeWire and uninstall it. Then update your Virus Protect Definitions, Spyware, Adware and Malware programs and run them all. Reboot and it should be ok.

Sounds like you're using Microsoft windows - that crashes a lot and there isn't much you can do about it.

If you want less crashes you'd need to move to a more stable operating system, such as Linux.

nah limewire doesn't cause crashes, but the stuff you download off limewire can crash your computer (virsus, worms and trojans). Becareful wat you download. If you dont want it to crash all the time, get a Mac. If you want to stay with windows, your going to have to learn how to tell whats bad or good to download.

Limewire and most P2P sites are known for infesting computers with virus and malware - It is probably what is happening to your computer... Use anti-virus and anti spyware software to clean your systems. And then stay off P2P sites.

A crash could be caused by any number of things...anything from a hardware failure, to incorrect drivers, to incompatible software, to overheating, to power failure, and many more. It's very hard to say a sure-fire way to keep a computer from crashing. Be sure to keep your antivirus and spyware programs updates and scan often. Also, keep track of your resource usage and temperatures.
