The song is about a relationship that is doomed to end. Both the girl and the guy know it but they cant stop dating- its like a drug.
Its 'not the calm before the storm' meaning their relationship isnt getting better. The 'slow dancing in a burning room' is like the relationship is doomed and its going to burn and scar and the longer they stay in the relationship the worse it is.

It's about a couple that have inevitably burned down, and they know their relationship isn't going to last, or ever be fixed, but they're both in pain over it, clearly, they're spending their last moments together; they're "slow dancing in a burning room". My favourite linesin the song are "you be a bitc because you can", "how dare you say it's nothing to me, baby you're the only light I ever saw", and "go cry about it why don't you", it's actually the "go cry..." bit and the whole second verse haha. For me, those words just have so much emotion to them. This song just reminds me of my last relationship recently. My ex texted me and said he missed me and we've broken up and gotten back together so many times that we know it's not going to work. I love him a lot, but I ended it last time and he got mad and was rude. And he hates me now :( but yeah, soz for the life story but I had to say what I thought about the song. It's my favourite song, it just has so much emotion and meaning in it

It's about a good/bad relationship that you really want to work out, but it seems that it really won't work out. So you try to tough it out - through the silly little misunderstandings and the fights - but you're just prolonging the inevitable. You're going to break up sooner or later.
