I have an uneditted copy of the orginal works of Shakespeare and Cassio does not die.Only five people die; Desdemona, Emilia, Roderigo, Desdemona's father and Othello. A number of soldiers also die but they are not a part of the main theme.
Iago goes to jail but does not die in the play; Cassio gains Othello's position and the third female's character (whose name I cannot remember at the moment) fades but she does not die.

I'm with Ambr. Cassio is wounded, but survives and Iago is wounded but survives. As far as the plot goes 5+ people die (Brabantio, Roderigo, Desdemona, Emilia, Othello, various and assundry military people involved in the Turkish wars and the ensuing sea storm). As far as the dramatic action goes, people 4 die ONSTAGE (Brabantio's death and the war & storm deaths are only reported).
