You need to talk to your doctor about your pregnancy and anemia immediately. It can hurt your baby if you leave it untreated. You will probably simply need to take an iron supplement (anemia is an iron deficiency, as you probably already know). Talk to your doctor, they should have already recommended some type of treatment like the iron supplement if they knew you were pregnant. You may not be able to make the anemia go away, since it's a deficiency, but you can take an iron supplement so that you have enough iron that your body needs. Best of luck!

i know exactly how you feel. i had the same thing happen to me when i was about 4-5 months. had low iron when they drew drawn. i was told that my iron was at 9, and it needed to be at at least 11. 12 -13 is considered the best, but 11 was the lowest i could have it for delivery. i was told to take and iron supplement once a day with orange juice (or something else that is acidic bc it helps you absorb the iron better). i was given a prescription for cromogen. being anemic during pregnancy is bad not only for you, but also the baby. especially as you near yuor due date, bc the lower your iron level is, the more blood you can lose during delivery. just ask your dr what to take and if you can get a prescription. what you get at the pharmacy is better then OTC. and eat iron rich foods along with taking the supplement. meat is especially good. i've never been much of a meat eater, so its likely the reason i became anemic. they'll check your iron level again at around 8 months. i went from 9 to 11.4. just check what your dr wants you to do.
hope this helps! good luck and congrats on the little one!

Your doc will prescribe you iron if it is a major concern. Just make sure you take it. The baby will need it when he or she starts making his own blood. Just eat iron rich foods and wait until you talk to the doctor to start taking any kind of extra supplement. Also make sure you are taking prenatal vitamins daily! I was anemic and my prenatal vitamins made it sooooo much better, but now at 33 weeks I take my prenatals and iron supplements.

I was found to have low iron when tested during my pregnancy. I was advised to eat Total cereal every day, and also take an iron supplement once a day. Be careful though, after I had my baby my iron was still low, so my doc wanted me to take the iron pill 2 times a day. I did, and started getting pains. It was from too much iron. So increase your iron intake, but make sure not to overdo it. You'll know when something isn't right.

hi-anemia means your body is low in iron--which is very commonly found in pregnant women.

your doctor should have told you to start taking iron pills
my doc. had me get some otc iron supplement pills.-- I found out I was anemic after my 1 hour test--and I passed the anemia test in the beginning.
I have to take 2 iron pills a day now & I noticed an incredible difference after taking them 3 days.
I was sooo tired and sluggish, but I just figured that was part of the pregnancy.

call your doctor and ask him what you should be taking.

It means you need more iron.

Go to the health food store and buy CHELATED iron supplements. They are best absorbed by your body and less likely to cause constipation.

Eat a diet of iron rich foods as well.

If you are still anemic when you give birth, they will just watch you closely for blood loss during the birth and post-partum period.

Yeah that's pretty ordinary simply so long as it doesnt occur on a general foundation. Talk to the Dr about supplying you with iron tablets on the grounds that you're rather anemic. I had the equal obstacle and after I began the iron drugs it didn't occur to me anymore.

i had anemia when i was pregnant. your doctor didn't prescribe an iron supplement? they should have. and you should take it separate from your prenatal vitamin and it helps to take it with a glass of juice to help your body absorb as much iron as possible. eat lots of food with iron like meats and dark green veggies like spinach.

as long as you stay healthy your baby will be fine. your body is using up all it's vitamins for the baby! so take care of yourself. if your doctor didn't get you any iron supplements, then i would ask if you need to be on one.

anemia is pretty common in pregnancy so don't worry to much. read is article it tells you everything you need to know.

You can eat iron rich foods, take certain herbs (consult an herbalist or your doctor), or an iron supplement.

The easiest and healthiest way would be to go with the foods! Try whole grain breads and cereals and red meat. Vitamin C will encourage the absorbtion of iron, and caffeine will prohibit it. So eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and avoid tea, coffee and pop.

Your doctor should have told you to take iron supplements. Anemic just means you are lacking iron so take the supplements and eat lots of iron fortified foods.
