Pay attention to what you think, say, do, and feel. Keep a journal and see what you write about and how you write it.
Then step back and notice any patterns as you would if it were someone else. You can also do certain kinds of meditation, such as vipassana, which will help you know yourself.

Remember that this process can take a lifetime.

Ever saw Pinocio, remember the character named Jimminie Cricket. That's a representative of the inner dialog that one has with ones self. The fastest way to know your self is to stop, think, and never be afraid to ask why. So if you see what your doing, ask your self why your doing it, if you get there then ask yourself why you like or don't like it. The more questions you ask the closer you get to discovery. Good Luck.
