yes, people are too quick to label people racists, it seems to me that its ok for some individiuals/groups/members of society to publically denounce the government, the country they live in and the people they share the same air with, and the minute the people of britain voice and opinion or make and observation then they are branded racists...theres a difference between racism and realism

Racism is all about being caught – I defy anyone to say they have not been racist (accidental or otherwise) at sometime or another and who decides which 'ist' is the worst anyway?
If anyone has the gall to say they are never racist then I bet they've got another chip on their shoulder about something else.
I heard on Good Morning America the other week that the black presenter (God, I hope I'm using the right term - I'm trying to remember Bernie Mac in Ocean's 11) had been insulted, though remained 'reasonable', about the fact that the white presenter (her 'supposed' best friend/colleague) had said she had been “Working like a slave”, or similar. I don't think any race has the monopoly on who has been treated like a slave in the anals of history.
So, in answer to your question, yes.

The messages could certainly put some people on a guilt thing, if they were not confident in themselves.
Personally, I appreciate decent people no matter what skin colour or tradition, and abhor the slags of all.
If faced with someone who has undesirable behaviours, I attempt to remember that there are desirable, and undesirable in all peoples.
Example: I would not want to be stereotyped as "scum" because of white Chavs trying to live down to expectations.

No. I abhore racism in any form and I have yet to hear a decent argument to support being racist. Racism comes from fear and ignorance and does not have a place in today's society.
I understand the point you are making, but worrying about issue's like illegal immigrants doesn't make you racist. Many people, myself included, have issues with assylum seekers and so on, however I don't have a problem with a specific race - I have a problem with our government.

Apparently now there are six types of racism :
Pre-reflective Gut Racism
Post-reflective Gut Racism
Cultural Racism
Institutional Racism
Paternalistic Racism
Color-Blind Racism
I used to think I knew what racism was until I read about this gut reflective stuff. Now I know that I dont know what racism is, and therefore I cant be guilty of it.

Nah! Its all about whether or not you are a quality person. Color and ethnicity have little to do with my respect for an individual. Trash and treasure comes in all colors, shapes and sizes. Problem is, our society in the US is moving from a "melting pot" where everyone becomes americanized while adding a little flavor of their own, instead to a "salad bowl", where the tomato wants its original form and identity and wants others to cater to that. Not a good situation. For instance, I work with and am very close to some really cool, educated and productive black folks at work. That doesnt mean I respect low class druggie, criminal or gangsta blacks or their stupid subcultures. Same with whites and mexicans who are too stupid to become productive society members.

yes, this culture has spawned an edgy and accusing environment that sometimes frightens me. i wish i had become a policeman so i had a gun on my hip at all times and a belt full of other weapons to educate the bad guys. i am scared of them as much as the bad guys, however. it has become a high tech urban jungle. no lions, tiger or king cobras but just as deadly to live in. i am actually afraid to answer you question. i know nothing. absolutely nothing. i am innocent.
