Hold the alt key down and type 0162. ¢ No sense in looking for it in a character map. Just do the above when you are where you want it and it will just put it in. It's common¢s!

Start > Run > Type in: charmap
A window will open that display all the non-standard characters available in the font you are using.
Find the cent sign and place your cursor over it.
It will popup a little window that give you a key combination to use to type that symbol.

press and hold ALT then on your keypad press 0162
That will insert the cents symbol.

it's hard to bring up the charmap with a school computer beings that sys tools are blocked, and the run command is blocked.

u can use the character map, from start-->all programs --> accessories --> system tools --> character map
or u could google for the sign.
