Oh, woe! We just got over one holiday and here's another one! My husband and I usually go out to dinner at a very nice restaurant but, I'm hoping to do something else this yr. Restaurants too crowded on Val. Day and tend to raise their prices and have fixed menus. Feel ripped off. We were talking about an overnight trip, staying at a nice B&B.

first, dropping the baby off at the sitter's!! then, i will be taking my wife out for a steak dinner, followed by some extravagant desert. after that, we will snuggle up in the concealing dark of the movie theater, watching what ever is on the screen. after that, we will head home, kick off our shoes, and plop down on the couch with some bubbley (cider, not champagne) then, just as we start to fall asleep, the phone will ring, we will answer it, and i will rush off to the sitter's, without my shoes, and apologize profusely, offering an extra $20.

It's my wedding anniversary. We are going to the Saddle Peak Lodge in Santa Monica, California and have fine wine and dining under candlelight with service under the stars.

Every year, whether we are in a relationship or not, my friends, significant others, if we have them, and I get together and burn an effigy of Cupid in protest of the discrimination this "holiday" causes. It's become a tradition with us.
