Saddam (as the noose is put around his neck): Ya Allah (Oh God).
Someone in the audience: Mercy be on those who pray for Mohammed and the household of Mohammed (Everyone repeats the prayer, including Saddam)
Executioner and two people in the audience: And hasten his return (the Mehdi), curse his enemy and grant victory to his son, Muqtada, Muqtada, Muqtada! (This is a common Sadrist chant.)
Saddam (smirking): Muqtada?
NSA Muwafaq Al-Rubai'i: To Hell!
Saddam: (laughing)
Prosecutor Munqidh Al-Far'awn: Please, no.
Muwafaq Al-Rubi'i: Long live Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr!
Someone in the audience: To Hell!
Saddam (solemnly recites the Shahada prayer): I witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah.

Yes. I think everyone would be nervous in this situation. I heard he thanked his American guards and the medical staff for their service and respect. His treatment by the Iraqis who actually carried out the sentence left something to be desired, but was understandable. This man caused a lot of grief to a lot of people..

I watched the video. He didn't appear to be nervous. They were mocking him, and he was dishing it right back at them to the end. Not quite sure how they execute war crime criminals but I do know that in some death row cases in the US they offer a anti-anxiety pill like Valium.
But if they gave him a hanging to execute him, (which in my opinion is one of the worst ways to go.) I doubt they medicated him. Serves him right. I read in books and in news articles that he would send his brothers to take women in the night bring them to their house, rape them, beat them and then feed them, (literally) to their dogs, (alive)
I'm not big on the death penalty, but what he did in his life, makes hitler look innocent. That is terrible.

Wouldn't you be nervous staring at a rope that is going to choke the life out of you. I doubt he was drugged as he is clearly heard argueing and quoting things

He was probably wearing a diaper. They make people wear them before the death sentence is carried out to minimize the inevitable mess.

If he was intelligent he would be....Medicated ? Yes on the Muslim fact that he is going to Heaven as a reward for his crimes

ok what kind of question is that lets think if you were being hung would you be nervouse?i would and i also would be scared..and no he was not druged because what he did to many ppl do you think they would drug him so he would feel anything?no they wanted him to think about what he did before he left to hell...cause what he did he needed to sufer....

I don't know if he was medicated. I think he sh*t his pants when they put the rope around his neck.
