Unlike conservatives, you won't find many liberals that proudly claim to be liberals nowadays. They prefer "progressive" now. Put a new dress on the same old hog and they figure all of us dumb, old Americans in fly-over country won't notice. We're not as stupid as they they think we are. And they're not as smart as they think they are.

You are assuming that being a liberal is a malady. This is not the case. Nor is being conservative a malady. It is a political and social philosophy, and it is important to recognize that this is America, and people do not have to agree with eachother. Everyone has the right to his or her own opinion.
My mother is a liberal, and I do not agree with her on most potitical topics. However, she is intelligent, and has the same right to her convictions that I have to my own. We respect eachother and agree to disagree.
