I have like 3 messengers and a video / audio program that opens when I turn on my computer, and most of them need the internet, which I don't really have upon start - up.

go to start > run > and type in msconfig. that should take you to the start up programs. Uncheck the boxes that have anything to do with your messengers or programs that you do not want to run at start up. That is one way than there is the regedit way also .... go to start > run> and type regedit it should bring up a box with folders. Now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER> Software> Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run now delete anything from there you don't want to run at start up. Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software> Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run delete everything you do not want to run at start up also .... But be careful that it is not something that needs to run at start up. If your not sure don't touch it!! Good luck it works !!

the apparent way is to uninstall any software you do not use. you may also (if year utilizing MS abode windows 2K, XP, Vista...) bypass to commence menu -> Run. enter msconfig and press go back. elect the Startup tab. right here you'll see a itemizing of courses scheduled to run each startup. Start Menu > Run > Type: msconfig
Go to the Startup tab
You can check and uncheck all the programs that run there.
