hi, um i try to get on to xbox live and it finds my internet connection on a cable modem and i type in the ip address and it says something else is using it and i cannot get on xbox live please can some one tell me what to do? or what could it be

Why are you putting in a static IP, Just leave it set to DHCP. It keeps telling you that because the IP address you typing in is taken. If you can get into your router settings, you can set up a static IP for you xbox. Also look to see what other computers you have on that network.
