I can say that the influence today is much diminished from fifty or more years ago. Nowadays, everyone watches TV and is able to travel to any other neighborhood in the nation, so the Personality has multiple influences.

The front porch used to be a very important "room" of the house. It was where you would greet other neighbors. Walk down the street today, and everybody's blinds are pulled. Everyone seems to be becoming more mutually averted, so the neighborhood's influence lessens.

I lived in the ghetto surrounded by loud inconsiderate people. I was grumpy and miserable every day. My wife almost left me.

I moved to a neighborhood that is full of love, and I'm unmeasurably happier in general most days.

I make it a point to get to know my neighbors. In the old neighborhood I got negative responses from most of my neighbors. A few were my friends. I thought. Those friends parked in my driveway, littered there, sold drugs there, played loud bass music there, all in my driveway. They stole from my back yard. They trespassed into it a couple times a month.

In the new neghborhood I've tasted almost everyones baking, and bakid for them. I am good friends with ALL of them. A few of them actually went to city hall to help me get a business license. These people are awesome.

I think your immediate surroundins are very important things to consider.
