It would be very interesting to see a prom theme that reflects the generations before you. Make it interesting and maybe make the local news. If you are wise and not afraid and in charge of your prom theme, do a total 1800 prom. Civil war, southern belles, union soldiers,(you wil see how many guys are intelligent , stupid,or romantic, something like" Gone with the Wind." There is nothing (today) that grabbs interest, that hasn't already been done. Pull this off in your school and not only will you have fun, you can contact your local tv news and they would love to cover it. A True prom should be a True Ball. Think about it What else is there to do that hasn't been done before? Good Luck

When I was in High school we had a "Bella Noche" theme. ("Beautiful Night" in italian). Decorations were simple.
We had white lights everywhere like stars. On the tables we had red cloth with pink and white rosepetals all over them. In the middle was a mirror with a goldfish bowl on it, fish were inside the bowl. Candles on either side of the bowl. We had ivy draped around doorways and everything. When people walked in, they went under an archway. Come to think of it, the whole thing reminded me of a garden. Only at night. It was very lovely.

One prom I went to did Starry Night.... not very original! The other I went to was Mardi Gras, that was a cool theme and there is a wide aray of decorations for it as well. Or it could be "a night in paradise," a tropical paradise theme, that would be nice, escape to paradise for a night with your date.

For my prom our theme was "Red Carpet". Everything was very Hollywood, and we had a long red carpet leading into the main room. Very cool

there is the ever popular "under the sea" theme. or, you could go with the 30's era theme. maybe you want to go to another extreme, and do a "visions of the future" theme.

I would suggest a "tropical paradise" type of theme, such as Hawaii or the Caribbean Islands.
