I really don't know why anyone would be surprised by Pelosi or Reid's action regarding the war. It is consistent with the position they have held since the beginning. In the end Mr. Bush will get what he wants for the war. Reid and Pelosi are and always have been liberals, but remember that most of the newly elected Democrats are more moderate. When it comes down to brass tacks you will find that most Congress people are not going to vote to limit funding no matter how much lip service the leadership pays to the idea. Politicians understand one thing that many average Americans don't. This is the idea that use of certain tactics can backfire, because once you open the door it is a sure bet that it will be turned around on you later. Ignore Pelosi and Reid and pay attention to the moderates who all seem to be stating the same idea, which is that Congress cannot and should not try to micromanage the war.

Many who are like Bush and Cheney are un educated and un informed they do not think that Iraq is in Civil war now. The blind lead the blind. Talk to the troops, they will tell you, they told me.
The word "surrender" does not apply when you are a occupation force in another country. The Top Generals have already cut and run, they call it "rotate out". Did they surrender when they quit and went home? Pelosi will come around in time. Impeachment of Bush and Cheney is the only option for Democrats. The people have spoken, she needs to listen and do the job she was put in office to do.

A) It was nothing more than political jocking. The letter caries little weight, besides the only thing the democrats (or republicans who agree for that matter) can do is show their public disapproval. The commander-in-chief has authority here.
Having said that, as a two time middle east war vet, there can be no US surrender. Why? In matters of military war you must have someone in clear authority to surrender to. Does anyone know who in Iraq that might be?

First, the use of terms like 'surrender monkeys' already completely discounts anything you have to say. It is clear repeat what you hear from Fox or Rush.
Second, telling the Prez that he no longer has a blank check is absolutely the right thing to do. If you were a TRUE conservative, you would have been against this was from the start. Personally, I would rather not a large chunk of my taxes (and my children's taxes) go to pay for Iraq.

The last elections show that a majority of Americans agree with Pelosi. The behavior of the executioners of Saddam Hussein shows that we are supporting a government run by supporters of terrorists (Muqtada! Muqtada!)

Time for you to enlist and go play "whack a mole" to revel in it's redundancy.
When W fesses up and tells us the real reasoning for war and the ultimate goals with practical expectations--he'll get whatever support necessary from all. Until then--he's the last rat on a sinking ship.

Why don't the war supporters leave their jobs, fly to Iraq and fight the war themselves? Its easy for back seat cowards to "stay the course" when they have nothing to lose.

We need to get out of that place as a military power and go back and help rebuild. Start creating jobs and programs to help make the country whole again. Hell we have destroyed it enough.
