ip address? please help?

hi, um i try to get on to xbox live and it finds my internet connection and i type in the ip address and it says something else is using it and i cannot get on xbox live please can some one tell me what to do? or what could it be

Just had a thought, if you have a router are you putting the ROUTERS IP in the field? You need to pout a LOCAL IP address, for example, if your router is:
192.168.0.1, then your main PC will be 192.168.0.2, for your 360 try 192.168.0.8
some router have different ranges, but you can check your network connections to show you the rane your using:

Gp to Control pNel, click Network Connections, select LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
click on support and look at the numbers

For example mine is:
IP Address 192.168.1.5
subnet 255.255.255.0 (always this on home networks)
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 (this is the routers IP address)

try contacting microsoft or first get your own ip adress on like ipchicken.com then contact your computer company and give them your ip so they can track them down whoever else is using that ip, hope that works!
