i don't want to freak you out more, hun, but that was not a good idea. at all. really. emails are not "the" way for discussing personal issues, especially major ones like your case. now, "don't cry over spilt milk", meaning what happened happened and there's no way you can change this fact, so what you need to do is act casually when you see him, and do not discuss the topic unless HE opens it. do not act nervous, and do not apologize. i can not stress this enough. do not apologize for anything. just act normally as if it's a very normal day. good luck :)

The most this guy can do is not return your feelings. You've already done it so there is no going back. Just try to look at it positively. If it does not happen the way you would like, you dust yourself and move on.

Not a great idea...but too late to change it...in the future, don't declare love to people when you don't know if they reciprocate it...that's a VERY serious thing to say, and chances are it's infatuation or a crush anyway...
Hopefully he won"t freak out and allow it to negatively affect your friendship...
