Well, hopefully you will learn how to spell basic words and learn which ones to capitalize before you turn in your report. But a few points on Jefferson:
1. He saw no contradiction at all between his statement that "all men are created equal" and the institution of slavery.
2. He supported slavery in the sense that it was a necessary evil. He once said that "Slavery is like holding on to a wolf by the ears--you hate to hang on but you hate even worse to let go."
3. Jefferson, and all early leaders of America, did NOT believe that blacks were the intellectual equals with whites. And they saw nothing wrong at all with this view. It is unfair to look at Jefferson through the eyes of 2007--we have to look at him through the eyes of 1776.
4. Recent DNA research has revealed that he DID have a sexual affair with Sally Hemmings (a black slave he owned) and fathered children with her as well.
Some books to consult (yeah, right) are Merrill Petersen's work on Jefferson, Joseph Ellis's work on "Founding Brothers" and Dumas Malone's three volume biography on Jefferson. That is how I gained my knowledge of Jefferson, of course if you simply cut and paste internet articles you will stay just as stupid after your work as you were before.

Thomas Jefferson was a very smart man who didn't ask people to do his learning for him. He had a fine command of the English language, and a perchance for punctuation, which, he used well when writing the Declaration of Independence. That is why he started the second world war, to free the slaves from Hitler. He later went on to star in his own television show called " The Jeffersons" for which he recieved the nobel prize. Regarding slavery, he wrote, " it is best for one to never engage in plageristic endeavors, for, like slavery, they shall become your master, and you their slave."

Jefferson supposedly "opposed slavery as a natural and just result of war", but that is not to say that Thomas jefferson didn't own slaves. He did.
In fact, one might say that Thomas Jefferson REALLY liked slaves, especially one known as Sally Hemings.

Thomas Jefferson was against slavery in fact, after the death of his wife, he had a long relationship with his wifes half sister who was a slave, they had many children together, she also help to raise his children by his wife, he even offered to stay in France with her so that they could marry, but she declined, saying that he had so much more to do with his life. A good friend of my family is a decendent of this part of his family, he even wrote a book about it.

He (in my opinion) was rather... ambivalent. That means (in case you don't know) that he felt drawn to both sides. He didn't believe keeping slaves was right, but he had workers because he was in debt. And at that time, you were not allowed to free your slaves until you were out of debt--which he never lived to experience that. There is also some evidence pointing out that he had a long term sexual relationship with a certain *****, Sally Hemmings... he supposedly got her pregnant several times. But that isn't 100% proven just yet. I hope that leads you in the right direction!

Jefferson owned slaves as did most people of money did.
However when wrighting the declaration of independence.
He wrote a long passage about how the slave trade was done by the king,he brought them across the atlantic, not by colonists.
But, because of the passage about all men being created equal, that slave passage was struk from the document.
(He kept his slaves)

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but do a thorough report on Jefferson - or anyone for that matter - you are going to have to read up on them.
I suggest these sites which have less intimidating "big" words which tell of Jefferson's life:

properly below the powdered white wig all of them wore, he had vivid crimson hair. Buckled shoes, waistcoat, probable some form of codpiece. He spent years in France, so he probable tailored a number of their fashions into his clothing besides. something you could verify into may be the HBO series John Adams. Jefferson became in there and the series became very actual to the varieties, so which you will possibly desire to look into what he wore there.

Well Thomas Jefferson actually owned slaves. I'm not sure if it has been confirmed or not, but he may have had a child by one.
