Why would we want to- our native broadleaves are much nicer, sustain more species and do quite nicely here (so long as global warming doesn't get too bad).

With warmer winters and hotter summers in the UK, there is good reason to think that palms as well as banana and other tropicals will be easier to grow out of containers.
The success story regarding palms can be seen in Devon as the Torquay, or Torbay palm.

Try palmetto. They are pretty hardy and will get 5-6 feet tall. Otherwise you can move the UK to the South of France and go from there! lol

Well, you are welcome to try.....
Unless you have an excellent microclimate, with no frost, or you can wrap them up and cover them, every winter, and protect them from wind damage, although they do "survive" their leaves brown off and they don't always thrive, sometimes they just very slowly decline, and look a bit sad.....
