Oh God, no!! Then we'd have even more Mexicans we'd have to take care of in addition to all the illegal ones that are already here dealing drugs and making our lives miserable.

Great question. Theoretically, there are a number of compelling reasons for the US to annex the rest of Mexico.
1. Southern Mexico has a much smaller border. Even the mexicans can patrol it.
2. Every time the US has acquired a chunk of Mexico in the past it has made money on the deal.
3. US law would mean minimum wages, which would pretty much gut the whole reason behind the current invasion. Why would Pedro freeze his chihuahua off in Chicago when he can make the same money in Tijuana?
4. US law, would in theory, clean up governmental corruption south of the Rio Grande... in theory.
5. Lotsa natural resources and cheap labor, even at minimum wages.
6. The American South is experiencing a huge real estate boom. What if you added over a million more square acres of even warmer land?
7. At Mexico's narrowest point, and with modern technology and endless cheap labor, the Tehuantepec Canal project could finally be realized. This would put a major, modern, transcontinental canal on American soil which would bring in billions of dollars each year.
Well, these are the theories. In reality, annexation would cost us billions of dollars, thousands of lives, and destroy the American way of life.

No, I don't think that would solve the illegal immigration problem. I think using Mexico's solution might. They toss all illegals into prison, no questions asked. They are not allowed public assistance of any kind. When they get out of prison, they get deported. If we took this approach and put them in prisons that are equal to the conditions of their home country, perhaps when they're shipped home, they'll stay there.

NO NO NO....we sure don't need to invade or annex Mexico. We need to set strict regulations against entering the U.S. illegally and then we need to do whatever it takes to secure the borders and send the illegals that are already here HOME where they belong. Round them up; ship them out on the nearest Trailways and Greyhound. In fact, borrow some school buses and use them all summer to transport illegals across the border. And we need to stop these judges who treat our border guards like the enemy instead of the Mexicans who are ignoring the law!!

It would, but think of the other problems that would cause, such as there is a higher degree of corruption in government in Mexico, language would also be a major barrier to integrating.
It sure would create a lot of infrastructure jobs, as we'd have to improve a lot of the highways, etc.

No, it would just add a large impoverished area & population to the country. Mexico would then be an enormous burden on us for generations to come.
