i have a three month old who uses the Nuk brand pacifier..he uses stage 1. lately ive noticed that when he sucks on it..sometimes he gets the bottom of the plastic part into his mouth...its almost like the nuk nipple is too small. ive looked at the stage 2 nuks, but they are meant for 7 months and older. any ideas on what i should do.
a friend gave me a generic brand pacifier with a bigger nipple on it, and my baby gags.....

help!

you may have to buy several different types before you find a replacment. All 4 of my children were pacifier babies, and it's never easy to change, try looking for another brand with a similar shape, or try the step 2, every babies mouth is different.

Oh and i got a good tip for when you're ready to stop the pacifier.... Get a scissors and snip the very tip of the nipple off, they'll be a little upset, but i promise, it works!

my son wouldnt take anything but the evenflo vizions or the playtex binky....he does have a descriminating palate though he wouldnt take anything but the playtex nipples on his bottles. The binkies are pretty universal and on the larger side, the evenflo come in various stages and at 8 months old he still prefers the stage 1. The upside to the evenflo are they are available in silicon whereas the binkies only come in latex from what ive found in stores. Avent also makes a good paci which is his backup paci...no hard feelings if its lost but will do in a store he just doesnt like to sleep with it.

My son had the same problem. I just had to switch to a different pacifier. Now he uses a Gerber one where the base of it flips out away from his mouth so that nothing is touching his face. It works great and he loves it.

And how often do you use a pacifier? I hate those things. Sorry...but I have seen 6 year olds in public with those things in their mouth. Why not take a lid and nipple from his bottle and close the open end so he doesn't take in any air from the open hole? Just a suggestion.

Maybe He is hungry and really don't need the pacifier. Or you ca search around for a pacifier that won't make him gag. Good Luck

I would take him off the pacifiers, trust me because you do not want to have a four-year-old pitching a fit for a pacifier on the way into preschool. Go ahead and nip it in the bud!

You could always try the bigger one and see how it works if it doesnt work then save it for when he can use it. Also maybe you can try a different brand if you are open to that.
