Im 34 weeks pregnant with my first son. I have had already pre term contractions and we have been on a constant roller coaster with him wanting to come to not wanting to come. Lately I have been having more contractions but these are not painful they just make my belly really really hard and makes it hard for me to walk and for the past two days i have had a lot of discharge. Just a little worried. please help me be more assured of what is going on. Thank you.

HAVE YOU CALLED YOUR DOC? My first was born early and I didn't have any warning. I would honestly say that the best thing for you to do given how close you are is (but still way too early) is call your doc and rest. These contractions may be Braxton-Hicks but they could also be real. Drink lots of water and try to avoid walking or any other activity for the next two weeks. (You should really avoid sex right now just because the semen can ripen the cervix and the oxytocin released during orgasm can start/strengthen contractions, talk to your doctor before having sex.) You should definitely call today and if they don't take you seriously, go into the ER and tell them you think you are in labor, they will monitor you and the baby and check for the presence of amniotic fluid to make sure you aren't leaking.
I know my answer sounds a little scary but it really isn't. Your body is telling you that is needs some attention. Now is the time to watch a favorite movie while sipping ice water or re-arrange the changing table for the 600th time and rest, rest, rest. The mixed feelings you are having are normal, you are excited and want to meet your little one but you know the he/she needs a little more time to grow. Your feelings are not causing the contractions and are not going to make them worse. Just be sure that you are following your doctor's advice and are not doing things to try and make labor happen because you want the baby to come. (I felt really anxious and wanted to meet my son, he came early and we have never known and will never know why. He is really healthy and smart and has had no issues but I still felt really guilty, like I caused it because I had wanted to meet him so much. He just turned four and I have since had one full-term baby and am pregnant again and I know that just wanting a baby to come cannot make labor start.) This may well be the hardest few weeks because you are so close, just try to distract yourself with friends, getting ready (I crochetted blankets) and doing all the little things that you most certainly won't have time for in a few weeks (a video game is a good choice, trust me, you won't be able to beat one for a really long time when the baby comes, lol).

It sounds like what you are experiencing are Braxton Hicks contractions. This is what is usually referred to as "false labour" to most. These contractions are helping to move your baby further into the pelvis and prepare for labour. If you have experienced an increased amount of discharge, that is normal during this point. Look for bloody show in the discharge, it will be a brown-red mucus. This is a good sign also, it is referred to as your "mucus plug". The mucus plug can be a precursor to labour suggesting that for many women it is a sign that labour could be iminent within 24-48 hrs. Don't bank on that though. Some women will lose their mucus plugs 2 weeks before they deliver.

If it is not braxton hicks contractions that you are experiencing, it can also be your baby shifting constantly. Babies will often go into a breech position at this time. If you feel a constant pressure on your ribs that is causing pain, it could be a sign that your baby is in a partial or full-breech position. Speak to your OB-GYN or midwife should this occur as you will want to have the baby turned.

Unless your water breaks or you are seeing bright red spotting from the vagina, you have little to worry about right now. Take it easy and get lots of rest. That baby will not come unless you are well-rested. If your water breaks or you have timeable contractions 5 mins apart - lasting 60 seconds - for one hour +) go to the hospital. If you are spotting bright red blood, call your OB-GYN or go to the hospital if it is outside regular clinic hours.

If your water breaks and you feel a strong pulsing in the vagina or if you can physically see the umbilicus this is called cord prolapse. This is a critical situation. Call 911 immediately and get on your hands and knees with your bum high up in the air, this will let gravity stop the baby's head from pinching the cord. You will want to keep the baby off the cord until medical help arrives.

Good luck and enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy!! Congratulations!

Yes Your Friend Is Right You Are Loosing Your Mucus Plug And It Is Verry Common To Loose It At Yhis Time So Just Keep An Eye On The Contracktions And Keep The Time On Them As Well Dont Let It Go No More Then three Minutes Apart.

Sounds to me like you will have a baby soon. I was 34wks when i gave birth to my son. For almost 2 day prior i had contractions that wernt that bad, especially since i had been haveing them since 23 wks( i was already 3 cen dil.) I would have never went to the hospital if it wasnt for a normal obgyyn check up i went, He checke dme and said you better get to the hospital now your 5 cen. Dont be affriad to call you doc. it never hurts to check. Also just incase your worried my 34 weeker came out fine. He was 6lbs 1 ounce 18 inces long and totally healthy. Also if the pain get to irritating try sitting in a hot bath. If your not in active labor that should stop the contractions for a little.

them tightnings of your belly with out pain is braxton hicks contractions they get your body and you ready for the real ones, and helps with your cervix as well, and the discharge is cause your getting close to labor, it wont be long, and as long as your not having blood, or fluid dripping (that would mean your water was leaking) or strong contractions you feel, or as long as you dont feel really bad pressure in your vagina, or cervix, you feel that that means the baby is dropped, and you shold get checked to make sure your not dilating, and if you feel the urge to push , go to the hosptial, better safe than sorry!
