i'm going to the dr today at 4:15, and he said he'll likely induce. i just have a horrible, horrible cold. i know its not anything serious bc i've been on antibiotics for a uti, its just really bad. runny nose, cough, you know how it is. my question is what i can do for some relief. i've been taking tylenol cold like my OB said, but it doesnt really help. i dont know what else to try. are there any things you can do at home that help? even if its just temporary. i just wanna be able to breathe for a little while lol. and i dont know what to do being pregnant. any help is really really really appreciated.

My midwife let me use a mild nasal spray for some relief. Not the 12 hour kind though.

The doctor visit is the best idea (not antibioticcs), because:
1. Colds don't last 41 weeks, so it's not a cold.
2. A cold is a virus, and antibiotics work on bacterial infections. They have nothing at all to do with colds, UNLESS it's turned into a respiritory infection, which is of course, a bacterial infection.
3. There's no cure for the cold. In fact, there's no cure for any virus of any kind, in the history of the universe. Your immune system kills it. Any cold medication just treats the symptoms, so you feel more comfortable until your immune system can kill off the virus. It doesn't actually "cure" anything.
I suspect what's really going on is some sort of allergy problem, but certainly ask a doctor, because it could be something more serious.

You can mix up a solution of saline water to shoot into your nose while hanging over the sink to clear your nasal passages.
Take 1 quart water, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp baking soda (to cut the sting from the salt).
The salt will kill bacteria in your nose by drying up the membranes that surround the bacteria cells. Also, it will flush any crud you have up in there. It's perfectly safe.
Also, if you have sinus pressure, take a hot wash cloth to your face.
I took one of my hubbys socks, filled it with pinto beans (dry ones), tied it off and set it in the micro for a minute and it worked as a good heating pad for my face.
I had the same situation with my last one.
Good luck!!!! You're almost there Mommy!!!!!!!

At 40-one weeks, the toddler is understanding of room to flow round. With my pregnancies my children bogged down plenty close to the end. yet if you are nerve-racking, visit be monitored. because you're being triggered on Thursday, basically wait it out. do not try any induction options on your human being. locate some thing to keep you busy for the subsequent few days. good success!
