I was a smoker as well. I smoked for 26 years but for the last 10-15 I only smoked a few cigs before bed.
Honestly, for me someone else - my wife - had to step in. She's always wanted me to stop but I wouldn't - because I said I couldn't. Well, my smoking had been getting crazy and I lit up a cig before I went on a bike ride.
She challenged me to stop. I knew it was time.
The desire to smoke is ALL IN YOUR MIND. After 3-5 days the physical effects are gone and you're just left with the mental longing - which can be worse.
What worked for me was I got back into all the things I'd quit doing in order to smoke - you wouldn't believe how much time you will get back when you stop. I'd been wanting to play this video game for a long time but didn't have the time. After I quit I had the time - and every time I felt like I wanted a smoke I'd whip out the video game and think to myself "Isn't it great that I don't smoke - I can do all these great things that I want to do now."
Hope that helps a little. Good luck - and YOU CAN DO IT!

Save your money on the CD try this first.
I work in the NHS and helped run Smoking Cessation clinics. All people from all walks of life came along. The oldest person was in his 70's and had been smoking since 14! We helped him stop. The group sessions are the best, because everyone helps and encourages everyone else. Trying to do it yourself, is not so good.
Our success rate was excellent, and many people that I have helped them to help themself to stop smoking are now non smokers for over 2 years. The greatest compliment written by a person who came along, was that he could talk freely and not feel being treated like a leaper, he couldn't thank us enough, as he had been trying to do this himself for years. He's stopped, and comes along to encourage others to do the same now.
I helped a gran and granpa to stop smoking, and they said, it was the best thing they had done. They used their money that they spent on "smokes", saved it up and went to America. One young guy, saved up for a deposit for his first new car.
Give it a try and join a group, your local GP surgery will put you in touch, or phone the NHS smokeline, who are great, and will help you find a smoking cessation class. Good luck and give it a go, you'll feel great, remember going for the first day is the hardest, take a day at a time. Before long, it will be a week, month and then a year.

I read the Alan Carr book 'Giving up smoking permamently' whilst i was still smoking. Didn't think anything of it but 3 months later, without putting any pressure on myself and not telling anyone, i thought I'd try giving up. I haven't had one cig in over a year. I believe there is some subtle mind bending going on with the way it was written and it triggered something in my brain! With me, it was all or nothing.I can't have 'just one' and have become a real anti-smoker, opening all the windows and doors when i visit my parents and mum is smoking. Find something to occupy yourself - like skipping, sit ups, chin ups, push ups - when you get a craving to take your mind off it. All in all, only you can decide to do it and take it one day at a time. Good luck!

To be honest i have used cds like this in past and they are very good ,go for it ,but there is an amazing book for £7 in any book store ,world wide it is called "alan carr ,easy way to stop smoking "
This man alan carr smoked 100 cigs a day and could`nt stop ,he was a solictor and came up with 10 easy ways to stop ,it is through the book that you are actually hypotising your self ,he tells to smoke the whole way through the book and then he leads you up to your last ciggie ,he stopped smoking at 37 and died last month at 79,he died of lung cancer the reason ,he made this book world wide and had smoking clinics all over the world ,because his therory was to smoke while reading his book and leading up to final ciggie ,alot of people in his clinics smoked as gave talks ,this is why he died off lung cancer from helping other people stop, now he said if he hadnt of stopped at 37 ,he would ahave died at 50,it th emost amazing book to stop you and once you have readit once you always remember the points he has made ,it stopped me and i still remember ever little bit of the book when i am feeling weak !!!
good luck ,ps i have tried every thing and this has been the best ever !!!!

Hello there, congrats on your decision first of all....well done!!!
I have not had a ciggie for 20 months now, i did not use Paul McKenner CD, but i did use Allan Carrs DVD and it helped me so much, it was amazing, i just didn't want to smoke after watching it a few times, i also carried around a water bottle & flushed my body....and for the first 7-10 days i carried around lolly pops, they helped so much with cravings as i still have the hand to mouth motion going on, i wish you the best
You can do it!!!

Get a jar, put a load of *** butts in it a fill it up with luke warm water.
Shake it round a bit (withthe lid on), then take off the lid and sniif in the jar really really hard.
The smell of that will make you feel sick and you wont want to smoke for a while.
When you feel like you do need one do that again.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

I gave up using his CD and the Alan Carr book "how to give up smoking the easy way". Hitting from both sides worked for me in one week. Would recommend both to anyone. Good luck

Yes u totally able to break the habit of smoking.I also smoked in earlier days but now a days i am not only able to quite but i tell u one amazing thing that i forget about how to burn cigarette & also forget about smoking. But honestly i tell u there is no use of any method of quite smoking until U have no guts of quite smoking from ur inner self-esteem.U have to force urself to quite smoking. But still i tell u one method about how to quite smoking. This method is known as "ONE DAY AT A TIME".You have to ask urself one question before going for smoking-- What i will get from smoking today? Why not i spend this time or say this beautiful day for doing something meaningful thing rather than smoking? I bet u that When u get positive answer from this question U will ultimately able to quite smoking. And u have to ask this question repeatedly to yourself before going for smoking atleast one time whenever u go for smoking. But one thing u have to remind that U have to get only positive answer from this question rather than negative one & also this is the easiest way of quite smoking. But i don't know whether it is the easiest method or toughest method for u.U have to decide by yourself. For me this is the easiest one.Hope this will help U. Thanks.
