#1 I am a fulltime employed "now" Grandmother, about to pay child support for this grand child so don't worry about who's footing the bill, I AM.
#2 My question of rights is based off the mother claiming he has none. Visitation will only occur at her will.

He should have the rights of a father whether he is a teen or not. By the same token he also has the same financial responsibilities of a child whether he is a teen or not.
Is he listed as the father on the birth certificate?

First off, if he is still an expectant father, he should register with the putative father registry in your state or else the mother could put the child up for adoption without his consent or knowledge.

Secondly, definitely get a lawyer because he should try to file for joint custody of his child if it is possible. You don't want a scenario where he is just eligible for occasional visits and that's that. Co-parenting often works well for everyone, but fathers have to be adamant that they get this type of agreement rather than the mother having sole custody.

Third, remember that being a single father, co-parenting, does not mean that he cannot continue his education. Colleges often have special scholarships for single parents.

Forth, remember that youth is a temporary state but parenthood is a lifelong state. Your son is a teen right now, but he will be a mature father pretty soon. Just give him support and encouragement and things will work out fine. Encourage him to nurture and support his child and he will blossom into a strong, mature, and responsible young man.

Where in Wisconsin do you live?

He now has the right to be a father to love and support his new family. My main concern here is that as a taxpaying Wisconsinite will I be looking forward to paying more taxes for the welfare line?
Sorry, I hope Iam wrong on this and I am sure your son is a good kid and willing to take on fatherhood, it is going to be a tough row to hoe and will need wise support from his family. I hope you get what the jest of my complaint is here. All of us who live in this State are just plain sick and tired of the high taxes in this state as I am sure you are. Rights would be my last concern. your question should read" What responsibilities does my son now have as being a teenage Father". I hear the Marine Corp is looking for a few good men.
Well,congratulations! you are a grandmother

First of all--has paternity been established? Contact your local child support office. Once paternity is adjudicated the issues of support and custody are addressed. In WI it is generally JOINT custody w/ primary physical placement with the mother--and reasonable visitation with the father. Go to family court with your son and make sure he is not shafted!

Child support offices do not handle custody and placement- so you will need to speak to the court commissioner/judge handling the case.

BTW--Per WI Statutes--the court must appoint a guardian at litem for your son (for any minor alleged father) unless he is already represented by an attorney. Call your family court commissioner and see if your son has been appointed an attorney.
