My son is due in March. A friend said that the "baby dry" diapers don't work well because there is no elasticity in the waist. What diapers would be my best choice so that I can start a small stock before my son is born?

I prefer Pampers Swaddlers, but of course it depends baby to baby.

My main reason for responding is to advise you to not stock up too much on Newborns, Size 1 or Size 2. Babies grow out of them quicker than you think! I think we only had one box of the Newborns (and the hospital let us take a few packages home). Can't remember how many of the 1s and 2s we went through, but our son is now 6 months and in the size 3.

Good luck to you!!!

I like Pampers Swaddlers the best by far. I'm really into textures and won't buy anything that doesn't feel nice. These diapers are very pleasing to the touch. And the tabs that secure the diaper fit well. The other brands tend to pinch at the legs and aren't as easy to secure. Amazon.com offers Swaddlers at a reduced price with free shipping. I tried a lot of other diapers this is the only one I recommend.

We started out with the Cadillac of diapers (Pampers swaddlers) when our daughter was born. Those things are a feat of engineering. I swear, I think they should win a design award. Perfect elasticity, can be wrapped tightly, but comfortably, around the tiniest of babies. Then, once we had the whole being-new-parents thing pretty much down (we had an initial irrational love for the Swaddlers and were unwilling to try anything else) and she was a little bigger, we joined Costco and stocked up on their store brand, Kirkland. No noticible change in absorbancy, a little less "fabric-like" in texture. Perfect for bigger babies (15 lbs and up).

If you have a baby shower, you will probably get lots of diapers. We buy the store brand diapers. My son is 17 months old and we have had the best luck with the diapers that the stores manufacture. This is awesome, because it saves us a ton of money. If you have a problem with a particular brand of diaper, call or email the company. Most diapers have money-back guarantees. The diaper companies want you to be happy and will take good care of you. We had problems with either Luvs or Huggies. I emailed the company and got my money back and got tons of coupons.
Check out www.1800diapers.com. Good way to save money and check out different brands.

Huggies baby-fit are awesome.
Your friend is right - "baby dry" have no elasticity - neither do the Swaddlers (also from Pampers). They're ok for the first stage but my daughter is in size 2 now and they do not work well at all, especially at night.

Hope this helps and congrats!

This totally depends on the baby. My 3 year old was the best in White Cloud (Wal-Mart brand) my newborn is best in Huggies. He pees right through Luvs and the White Cloud. It seems by reading the answers that Huggies is the best. I have not had a problem with them as of yet. Good Luck and congrats!!

Stay away from Huggies, almost everyone I know says the same thing about them that I experiencec with my son "They leak", you will notice that when change your baby in the middle of the night how there night clothes are always wet.
When I switched over to Pampers that didnt happen anymore. So I would say go with Pampers.

hi im having a lil girl in march. So far we have been stalking up on baby wipes and diapers too! Its a good idea their expensive!!!!! I have been buying them in bulk at walmart (its the cheapest even over Costco) I have baought pampers and white cloud.

For the wipes i buy the hypo allergenic NON SCENTED cuz you dont know ifyour baby will be allergic to them or not. They are the same price as the regular ones.
Good luck to us both!

I am also due in March with a boy and I have stocked up on Huggies. I have heard more good things about Huggies than any other diaper and I know a lot of people that use and love them.
