Unless it is someone under age there is no such thing as illegally dating so yes you can. Consult your lawyer in the meantime.

You filed for divorce I see no reason you wouldn't be able to date.
If you file for legal separation, you can date so I see no reason your filing for legal divorced so sure you can date. If it makes you feel safer call your atty. and ask him or his secretary. I dated while the divorce was pending, my ex even moved in with his girlfriend. You can't remarry for ever how long your state requires, but probably this long fighting a divorce , marriage is the farthest thing from your mind, sure was for me.

If your legally seperated, then nothing can be done. Even if not, There is no state that can drag a divorceout over 24 months, and thats from a book on divorce state by state.

I filed for divorce 5 months ago and see no progress yet because we are fighting over finances and he doesn't want the divorce now (since his girlfriend that caused it dumped him). My lawyer said I could date since I have filed and he can't counter charge ME with adultery. However I have to be the good mom and have no men sleep over ect.. because custody is still an issue.

No because that will be considered Adultery. Believe me you do not want to go through that. If you are still legally married I would play it safe and not do anything wrong until it is finalized.

Yes, you are free to date. Just make sure your dates know that your divorce isn't final! If you have minor children at home, do NOT let your dates stay overnight!
