Well I have recently made the decision to go back to school part time and work towards a master's degree in business. I didn't know you had to take a test to even get it....I guess it's called the GMAT?
I downloaded this practice software from the GMAT web site, and I am really floored at the questions....I tried taking the math portion, and I was stumped right from the very beginning! I guess that's what happens when you've been out of school for 4 years!

The GMAT is the Graduate Management Admissions Test; so yes, you're looking into the right exam. Any of the top Universities will require you to take the exam. The biggest benefit of going to an upper eschelon school would be the contacts you make. In other words, Education isn't the only benefit of going to a top ranked school.

As of studying for the exam; it's tough~! The Math section isn't tough because the skills involved but the figuring out what the question is actually asking. Just brushing up on your algebra will yield enough mathematical know-how. However, figuring out what they're asking you to figure out is all a matter of practice. Remember when you had to figure a word problem into an algebraic equation? That's the GMAT Math.

The Verbal section is also tough because of the variety of questions. The biggest help I can dish is remember tenses and noun/pronoun enumeration (singular versus plural). Again this can be learned by practice.

Ultimately, it isn't the skills that make it tough, it's the deciphering of the question that is. I took the Kaplan course and it's basically a lot of drilling. So if you can find a good source of older retired questions, you can do well studying by yourself if you want to save money. Just remember it's a comp-based exam and it's progressive. So if the questions are getting tougher, the better you're doing. If you see "what is 2+2", cancel the exam!

The math is pretty similar to the math sections on the GRE or SAT. It is really just High School math -- which puts it back even further in your memory. If you did well in Math when you were younger, you just need to exercise your brain a little & get those math muscles working again. I took it cold (but then, I did graduate work in mathematics) -- but a lot of people feel that a course like Kaplan's really helps them get focused.

Getting a good GMAT score will really help you get into a better MBA program. And the better the program, the better your job offers when you are done.

Good luck.

I took it believe me it is a biotch! The math is the hardest part of the test. I failed the first time I took it, talk about a waste of $250. If you don't want to spend the money to take it, try to find a university that doesn't require it. I am currently attending Webster University and they don't require that you take the GMAT to get in.

If you have your heart set on a certain school and they require it. I'd recommend spending the money to take a Kaplan test prep class. For the GMAT, it would be totally worth it.

think ofyou've got been extremely fearful even as taking the extremely try or because of consumer mistakes didnt fill contained in the questions properly. Their platforms are monitored very heavily, so an mistakes on their section is not likely, yet you are able to call to double examine. maximum colleges take the finest of both try ratings anyhow, so I wouldnt project about it. Take yet another practice try and then go lower back to take the real ingredient lower back.
