I wanted to know what the top scary movies are, BUT I dont want to hear the usual: The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, Halloween, etc. I need something more original and scary with big name actors/actresses. Thanks.

Great recent scary movies include Saw **(1 to 3), The Ring (1-2), Texas Chainsaw Massacre** (2003), Wolf Creek** and The Hitcher** (1986). They are my favourite scary movies. **Some movies may not be recommended for people under 18 for intense and gruesome horror**

The Others, Dawn of the Dead, The Shining, The Exorcist, Psycho, Seven, Halloween, Evil Dead II, The Ring, Alien.
I love them all.

Why don't you want the so called usual? They are stated because many consider them the scariest movies. I love scary movies and have seen many many but I have yet to see a movie scare my more than "The Shining."

The top scary movie is Texas chain saw b/c that is a true story. I also think jeepers creepers, and its kinda stupid but its scary and gross to me I think its called a 1000 or 3000 corps by rob zombie.

I thought the original black and white version of The Haunting was very scary. I wasn't expecting it to be...I sat there at about 3.00 am on my own watching it and scared myself half to death.

The Exorcist still has it's moments...especially the animal noises played backwards!!! (I can't watch that on my own).
