I'm thinking about buying a 1996 Subaru Impreza from my brother. It already has 182,000 miles on it. How many miles are Subaru's generally good for?

If maintained properly upto 300,000 + miles.
Check the battery, belts, hoses and brakes every 12 months
Change the oil and filter every 3 months, use 5w-30
Change the coolant, brake fluid every 24 months
Change the transmission fluid every 36 months
Depending where you live have it undercoated

i own a repair shop,,and it should be good for a lot more miles as long as you take care of it,,they have been known to go 4-5 hundred thousand miles,,if they was taken good care of,,but you,ll have to keep it maintenance'd real well,and fix things as they tear up,it should be ok,,but with that kind of mileage it will need a few things repaired from time to time on it,,good luck hope this help,s

If they are well taken care of you should be able to get 250,000 miles until you have to rebuild the motor.
