it's hereditary to get them on your belly hips thighs. If your mom had them you will get them. The skin on your hands and feet is very different that's why you don't get them there.

I dunno if I agree w/Mary. She said if mom had stretch marks, you will too. My mom had them really bad on her hips and thighs. I didn't get not a single stretch mark at all on my belly, hips, thighs or feet. LOL. I used to think it was hareditary too, but i am walking proof that it is not - at least in my case it wasn't.

Most people don't get stretch marks on their feet cuz as big as they swell during pregnancy, it is no where near the same amount of stretching as it is on the belly. Your belly has to stretch 10x's it's normal size. Your feet only maybe 2x's it's normal size.

Do you want stretch marks on your feet? I think because your belly stretches so much more then your feet do. BTW - My friend rubbed vitamin E oil on her belly when she first became pregnant and did that every day as she was growing and she did not get stretch marks at all.

Because most skin can handle a little swelling but during weight gain or pregnancy your skin stretches passed it's point of elasticity which causes the skin to break and make stretch marks.

Stretch marks or striae are common in the abdomen during pregnancy. They occur due to the rapid growth of the fetus/uterus stretching the skin. The dermis (level of skin just under what you see) is the elastic layer of skin that becomes decompensated causing the marks. Why you do not get them on legs and arms is kind of a mystery. I have seen them very widespread on the thighs of people who gained a great amount of weight in a short period but I have never seen them on the lower legs or arms. This could be due to the rate or relative amount of swelling but it could also be due to differences in skin turgor (stretch resistance) on different parts of your body. Skin that is thicker and has hair associated with it is somewhat "tougher" than abdominal skin. If you are worried about stretch marks or they are painful you should see your doctor or a dermatologist.

Stretch marks show where the underlying layers of collagen have seperated - it has nothing to do with the thickness of the surrounding skin. Some women with thicker collagen layers don't get tears in their layers, and thus no strech marks. Those with genetically thinner layers are most likely going to get stretch marks no matter what they rub on their skin.

when u r pregnant-there lies under ur skin of the abdomen a thing called Mesentary-Donnage. in the leg u have only muscles and nerves and lymphatic channels. when abdoman swells the muscle of ur abdomen over the mesentary stretches causing strech marks. dont compare abdoman with legs.

because the skin on your feet is alot thicker so it wont leave stretch marks, and the skin on your feet is not stretching as far as the skin on your stomach

The woman used to be thin so when she was pregnant, the skin is pulled, so come out the sign like in Sahara Desert on her stomach. Otherwise the baby is inside the stomach not in the legs! So no woman ever pregnant in her legs.
