If you have shoulders and hips that are the same size and a nipped in waist......you're an hourglass shape.
If you are straight up and down.......you are an athletic build.....as long as you are slim or toned.
If you carry lots of weight on your bely and bum and have smaller arms and legs.......you're an apple.
If you have small shoulders and big hips and bum.....you are pear shaped.
They say that if you have bigger shoulders and small hips that it is a boyish shape but personally i think that that is athletic too.

Actually there are 3 different physical body types.
The ectomorph: short upper body, long arms and legs, long narrow feet and hands, and very little fat storage. This body type has a narrow chest and narrow shoulders and long, thin muscles. These tend to be the people who are natually skinny and usually taller or longer.
The mesomorph: large chest, long torso, solid muscle structure and very strong. These would be considered athletic physics. They can gain weight but their body responds very quickly to excercise.
The endomorph: short musculature, round face, short neck , wide hips, and heavy fat storage. Well many people fall into this one. this would be where I fall into. Shorter, wider hips, big chest, very hard to maintain weight.
No one is totally one type but a combination of all three types. You can be thinner with an athletic build or athletic with a curvy build...but scientifically this is where the three body type categories fall into

well as far as i know, there are 2 body shapes, pear and apple. and they are exactly as the shape sounds, pear means u have a pretty normal body except ur hips n bum r bigger, apple means u are heavy ontop, at ur shoulders and belly.
if u just mean curvy, slim or whatever u should just be able to tell by looking at ur body
hope this helps
