I have a southern accent. I think that's why people who read my questions think I'm so sweet.

I don't have an accent (that's my story and I am sticking to it! LOL), but do ennunciate wonderfully. For this I am often seen as either Eastern European, Bostonian, or a snob.
That last is my mother-in-law's take. ; )

I suppose to an extent it does. My mother's family are all from Mississippi (I had the honour of being born there). For me most Southern accents are homey and comfortable.
Most of the time I find people's dialects fascinating. How did people where I live come to call soda "pop"? (And why do many of them find it so charming when my children and I say "soda"?!?) I don't mind as long as I am given the grace to speak the way I learned to speak. It isn't wrong, just different. ; )
