He has dropsy and possibly pop-eye. Treat with a course of maracyn and maracyn-2, but do know that this condition is usually fatal.

It usually results from poor water conditions. People think they can put bettas in little bowls with cold water without filtration and that the bettas will do fine. In reality, bettas need swimming room (5 gallons is usually sufficient), filtration to keep the water clean, heat (bettas are from Thailand where the water in a warm 80F) and weekly 30% water changes. The best thing you could do for him and any subsequent bettas you own would be to put him in a 5 gallon tank with heat and filtration.

This sounds like dropsy, which is an illness that fish can get. You should to your local fish store and pick up some medication for him.

FYI they are Siamese Fighting Fish, or Bettas.

OH! Dropsy, SOOO SAD! I hope he pulls through. Medicate immediately, follow the direction regarding frequency of medication and water changes. Good luck!!!

I would get treatments for the water but it seems like your fish has dropsy. dropsy is fatal and treatments don't always cure it. I would prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
