One hour is 60 minutes so 1/2 an hour is 30 minutes.
60/2 = 30! Wow division is fun.
A quarter hour is 60/4 = 15 minutes. A quarter till means there is 15 minutes till a certain time. So a "quarter till 7" means 15 minutes before 7 o clock so it would be 6:45.

Half and hour= 30 mintues
Quarter til- 15 minutes til the next hour. Meaning if I said quarter to 3 it'd be 15 minutes til 3:00 or 2:45.

An hour can be divided in to halves and quarters, so a half hour is every thirty minutes and a quarter hour is every 15 minutes. So a quarter till mean it is fifteen minutes until the top of the hour. An example would be 3:45pm.
