Pro wrestling is and has always been 'sports entertainment'. It is not a sport because the outcome is predetermined by writers. Everything is scripted. Of course, since the outcome is more or less a secret to viewers, I guess you could still bet on it.
They are still athletes because you have to train very hard to not get seriously hurt performing all the moves that they do.
It is not a sport.

Yes. Because it is of a sport nature... of the sporting industry.
Sports entertainment wrestling is for entertainment purposes ONLY and of course is choreographed.
You asked about "pro" wrestling..... not "sports entertainment" wrestling - that, is the difference of the two.

NO NO NO
Pro wresling is an Entertainment device. It is not a sport. A sport is a contest inwhich the outcome is not already know. Pro Wrestling is no different than movies or plays

Yes and no...it actually depends on the type of wrestling you are refering to. The type of wrestling that you usually see on television is called "sports entertainment," because, although much of the fighting is pre-rehearsed, it still takes athleticism to pull many of the moves off. Greco-Roman style wrestling, like the kind displayed in the Olympics, however, is called a sport. A friend of mine who wrestled in high school (where wrestling is considered to be a full "sport") later went on to work for a semi-professional wrestling company (which is considered to be "sports entertainment"). While in college, he did his Honors thesis on wrestling, too!

Pro wrestling is not a true sport because the outcome is predetermined. Sport requires some form of competition. What it is, is as they now call it, "Sports Entertainment".
Now I would not call it fake. The outcome is predetermined but what those men and women do in the ring is very very real. They do get hurt and they train for what they do.

I think not, but...
Reason: I think it really depends on how you define the word 'sport'.
Under this definition I think I'm right:
"Physical activity that is governed by a *set*of*rules* or customs and often engaged in competitively. " (* emphasis mine)
Under these definitions, I might be wrong:
-"diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime."
-"an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc. "
I've been thinking how difficult it can be to really declare anything as absolutely true or false because of the many ways a word can be defined. Sometimes I will listen to two people argue and it seems they are really in agreement about all aspects regarding the reality of a situation, but they're actually disagreeing about a definition; Is this what 'semantics' means?
I assumed y'all know it's fake ;-)

I would have to say no, they aren't actually competing, its purely for entertainment purposes. That doesn't mean that the wrestlers aren't athletes, you have to be in some kind of shape to be able to do those acrobatic moves. I also believe that they actually do take some physical abuse and do get injured, but they try not to because how can any of them make any money if everyone gets hurt all the time.

It depends. Most people would say not, since there is no actual athletic competition.
However, there are also those who believe that cheerleading is a sport. Hmm...
