As a "Southern Belle" I can assure you that the old stereotypes hold true. I talk with a typical Southern accent, slow with too many syllables occasionally, but I do have indoor plumbing, I can read and write, I wear shoes, I have teeth, I'm potty trained and familiar with utensils.

o hell yes, being from texas I'm automatically assumed to ride horses and be a hick and therefore not know a damn thing about current topics, new yorkers as well as all of the new england territory is thought of as loud, roudy annoying people based on their yelling and tone. Most people are obsessed with the british only because of their accents when in reality I haven't found many good looking british boys.

yes..ppl automatically assume ppl from the south are slow or stupid and ppl also assume those from the north are rude and nasty...thats just those two accents...the reality is there are some slow and stupid ppl all over the world and there are rude and nasty too but there are also intelligent, nice and compassionate ppl too....its too bad ppl are biased not only against color but accents too. really you think we would have learned better by now

Oh actual! many human beings associate specific accents with lack of expertise, others with intense society, hard men etc etc. this is stupid, simply by fact there are stable, undesirable, clever and stupid human beings everywhere with all varieties of close by accessory, whether it in simple terms looks human nature.

Here in England I think it does.
So many different accents in such a small country.... certain accents make you think different things.
