More then likely you are not inserting it correctly. Also the pain from taking it out may be caused by removing it too soon. Also always make sure that you use the correct absorbancy.

use an applicator. if you don't the dryness will just cause friction between you and the tampon. also hold the lips apart, as it will say in any intructions you may be able to find, as if you don't that could also hurt.

it may hurt when it's inside because it is not in correctly. again using an applicator would solve this problem. don't be scared of it going to deep inside. a mistake i made, and was in pain for a day.

when pulling it out, do it very softly. it still hurts me when i'm removing a tampon. this is because the material has expanded to soak up the blood. also some of he tampon may still be completely dry. so just take your time.

hope i help x

Couple of reasons why it might hurt when you put it in. You're either too dry down there, in which case use tampons with applicators. Playtex tampons have really nice shiny (and therefore slidey) applicators, other wise use a little KY Jelly.

Alternatively it's because you're a virgin and you're not stretched down there. I couldn't comfortably use tampons until I'd had sex a few times.

If they hurt to take out you're either using too big a size or taking them out whilst they're dry (not covered in menstrual blood). Either way use mini or regular for a while.

It could be a few things. Firstly, are you very tense when you put them in and take them out? That makes your muscles 'tighten'. Secondly, are you using a higher absorbency when you put them in? Use the lowest one possible. And finally, maybe you're a little dry. I usually put a little vaseline on the end of the tampon before putting it in - it really helps. You'll get used to them - it took me a while, but now I always wear them. Towels are like nappies and feel too restrictive. Good luck!

not everyone can use them. if it still hurts using the mini size then you can't use them. you may have a condition called vaginismus. if you have to use a tampon wait until you've had a bowel movement and a shower then put some vaseline on the end before insertion. only use them when your flow is heavy and alternate with towels. however if you are as i suspect a male who thinks women's problems are funny..watch out because what goes around comes around

I had exactly the same problem. I read somewhere that singing on the toilet relaxes you! It worked and I managed to insert a tampon after trying for a while and it being really painful.

Sing! I hope it works xxx

When i first used them I thought that for ages and couldn't understnad why people wore them.

They don't hurt and you shouldnt notice they are there... just when putting it in make sure you put it as far up as you can ( it won't get lost because the space in there isn't big enough ) just put it far enough so it's past the walls that make it hurt...

use an applicator if that's easier. When it's in far enough it'll come out easy too... Just relax.

Don't be nervous when you are trying to insert it all the muscles tense making it harding for the tampon to go in! Just be calm and relax!
