Poor baby! Why were you away so long? I'm sure it had to have been for a very, very good reason. I'm afraid he's suffering seperation anxiety. Your absence was traumatizing to him, especially if you were breastfeeding.

He's 1 year old which means he's old enough to drink regular pasteurized milk. He will get his iron and minerals from the baby food he eats now, he isn't getting enough from momma's milk anymore. I recommend starting with Lactaid free milk, so as to prevent an allergic reaction, also since Formula is much more expensive, using regular milk now would be cost-efficient.

If you still want to continue breastfeeding. I recommend, that you pump your breast milk, and put in a bottle, meanwhile try to breastfeed him ONLY when he's obviously hungry, then soothe and rock him in your arms and put his face up to your breast. If he won't take, try using a plastic "nipple shield" since I assume he was fed by a plastic nipple/bottle during your absence and got used to this during that time.

When you say he won't come to you, I assume you meant breastfeeding. If you mean he is avoiding you or resents you, then I suggest not leaving him for so long next time. Put your child before you, this is a delicate stage in his life. Although he is a baby he has feelings like you and I and probably felt you abandoned him. He has seperation anxiety or issues, show him your here to stay, tell whoever took care of him while you were gone, to wrap him in your robe or clothing that carries your scent, when he is napping and/or being soothed. Be patient and show him that you love him (kisses and hugs), let him sleep or nap next to you, he'll get the idea, that's if you don't make a habit of leaving again.

i wish that were true. The other teeth will fallow soon, but it could months , my daughter didnt get any till she was 9 months then she got 3 at once, then by a year her molars came in and just now she is getting a third on the bottom front when she already has four up top. Each time a tooth gets close to breaking through it will be a little painful. My daughter always got alittle cranky but a little motorin or baby orjel seem to help the pain and it would pass with in a day or two of the tooth coming in.

Sounds to me like he is done breatfeeding. Also, aren't you dried up by now? Considering he is now a year old he can be put on whole milk if he doesn't have an allergy. Babies have to work harder when they breastfeed compared to a bottle. He hasn't had to work hard for his food in a month don't expect him to just go back to the breast so easily. You may not even have any milk to give him.

Do you mean he won't nurse/breastfeed? If that's the case, and you kept your milk supply up while you were gone, you can encourage him to nurse by:
Trying to breastfeeding when he's relaxed and sleepy. Take him in bed with you, and go topless with him in just a diaper. The skin to skin contact may remind him of nursing.
Taking baths with him. Once he's used to your presence again, he might be interested in taking the breast again.
Having lots of hugs and kisses and quiet time.

If your milk has dried up, you can try relactating. There are lots of herbs and different techniques you can use to restart your milk supply.

Find a lactation consultant or La Leche League in your area. They can give you lots of information and support!

The transition from breastmilk to whole milk can be tough. But he will get used to it. My son liked milk right away. He really doesn't need to breastfeed anymore now that he is a year. I think it looks strange when women still breastfeed their kids after they have turned one.

At a year old, babies are supposed to switch to whole cow's or soy milk anyway. Try mixing it two thirds of what he was getting before to one third whole milk. When he gets used to that, increase the whole milk and decrease what he was getting before gradually.
