Absolutely.
Why?
Because that policy has been grossly abused to create anchors.
And for all of the nimrods that put forth the argument that it is a racial issue, it is not!
It is draconian, as the same standard would apply to everyone.

I understand the problem it could make, but the Constitution is very specific that a person born here is a natural born citizen...by saying they are not American citizens, you could be sentencing them to a lack of citizenship anywhere....please don't change the Constitution for small issues...i think the best solution to immigration is to fine companies that hire illegals,...when companies are afraid to hire illegals, the problem will evaporate and we can easily absorb children such as these...it's a tough situation, but I think we need to be fair about it and put the blame where it belongs

yes. America has some of the easiest citizenship laws in the world. All you have to do is be born on American soil? What??? In France you have to go through generations and prove how French you've become in order to become French. I'm not advocating for that, but America needs to be built on people who are American first, their culture a pleasant second, (which gives us the diversity of food, music and culture that we like so much). but recently, we've been having an influx of people who never bother to become America, don't even socialize their children to be American

Actually, it should stop granting automatic citizenship to anybody who is not born to at least 1 US citizen parent. This should resolve the issue of "anchor babies" pretty much.

And it is consistent with the laws of the rest of the world.

The 14th Amendment was intended for children of slaves not to any criminal that wants to slither across our border and work the system!

This is just another reason our constitution should just cover basic rights for Americans(I said Americans not just any person in our country) .... just look how our government can twist amendments to serve their own political agenda 150 years later!

Kent - easily absorb these anchor babies? surely you jest the mexicans birth to death ratio is 8 births to 1 death for Americans (all races) the average is 1.5 births to 1 death...just exactly how do you think we can absorb them?

I have a better idea, how about we put in prison the owners and executives of companies that hire illegals.

In my personal opinion, yes they shoudl stop, because too many children are "dropped" here by illegals just to get to stay. If we did not grant that citizenship, it might deter many from "dropping" anchor babies, just for that reason.

If they are born in the United States then by the words of the Constitution they are citizens. I don't think we should change the Constitution to satisfy racial bias. No one argued this crap when it was the Irish, or Germans, or Poles coming into the US in other times, its only when the powers that be realize that the world might change around them.

I think so, it really isn't their fault, but it is the parent's fault. and they shouldn't be illegal in the first place. Everyone does deserve the right to education, but not everyone has it. I think rights are the things you die for. I think they need to go back to their own countries and fight for the rights they should have. I think natural rights is a nice idea, but it isn't true. That is just my opinion.
