Jordan or Dominique or Vince Carter? If they all did one tonight all in the Prime of their lives....I think its Nique by FAR, but MJ and VC are good too, as was Sean Kemp and Jason Richardson, what do you guys think....

I even think Nique beat Jordan when Jordan did the famous free throw line jam.... made for a classic poster for Nike, but The Human Highlight Reel had a better overall performance that night.

Please nobody say Kenny Sky Walker or Spud Webb, you will NOT win Best Answer (unless you make a great case)

Nique is who I would say by far. I couldn't ever get tired of the reverse dunk putting the ball below his knees and rocking the rim. I would also agree with Jordan, Vince, and Richardson. Shawn Kemp never won the slam dunk contest but has a lot of kids so he was dunking something right. Harold Miner was pretty good winning it twice and got the nickname "Baby Jordan".

I like your choices... however you left out a couple of conspicuous champs:

Josh Smith, Julius Erving, and Nate Robinson. Spud Webb was definitely not better then Robinson, who is about the same height and had sicker dunks, so take both them out of contention. Kenny Sky Walker was not that good...

Personally I think the best slam dunker is Amare Stoudemire, but he missed the championship to Josh Smith, so he has to be on this list. Sean Kemp is pretty decent (read: he's a beast), but he isn't up to snuff with Carter, Dr. J, J-Rich, MJ, Smith, and Nique...

In today's overwhelming media (which Carter, J-Rich, and Smith dealt with), Jason Richardson is the only one who has won back to back titles. Smith didn't even make the second round in his second try...

So I'm left with Nique, Dr. J, MJ, and Jason Richardson for the contest bests. (Note: In a game, MJ and Vince Carter are definitely the best)

Dr. J totally revolutionized the contest, as did Dominique Wilkins. Michael Jordan did the famous dunk you mentioned, but he isn't that far ahead of anyone from one dunk... As I said, Richardson won the contest twice.

To me, Julius Erving was better than Dominique Wilkins, which leaves him head to head with Jason Richardson. However, in Erving's day, a highly creative dunk for then might only be an 8 or a 9 now. The difficulty has increased significantly as the average athleticism in the NBA has increased, which has increased as the US and other countries got more into pro sports, especially basketball. So I'm going to have to say that Jason Richardson is my selection for the Best Slam Dunk Contest Champion ever.

I gotta agree with you, the first two people that came to mind when i saw the question, before the details, were Wilkins and Jordan

That said, it was pretty sweet that Spud Webb was such a nasty dunker

However I think it would just come down to Jordan and Wilkins, and would probably all depend on who was feelin it the most that night often times those contests are just won by whoever is the most jazzed up because they tend to jump the highest etc. especially when the two are on even ground like Jordan and Wilkins

Vince Carter and Jason Richardson shouldn't even be up there. I understand why you put MJ and Wilkins up there but I have no clue why you'd put any of these new guys up as one of the best. I mean, the 1980s were when all of these dunks were invented. After 1995, all of the dunks were just poor replays of what Julius Erving, Michael Jordan, Dominique, and those other guys did.

IMO, Julius Erving is the best ever. Most hang time, most creative dunks and on top of that he made it look easy. He glided like no one else, defied gravity and showed no struggle whatsoever.

Spud Webb was the best. The man was 5'8 and getting crazy. Domineque would have won that dunk contest against Jordan if it was anywhere other then Chicago. I would rate them webb 1, Dom 2, jordan 3

Yea he did i think of for the main section his dunks have been kinda underrated. His 1st dunk replaced into exceptionally stable in assessment to all the different dunks, 2d dunk replaced into the main suitable interior the competition, third dunk replaced into additionally exceptionally stable yet we didnt get a stable view of it reason the digital camera guy replaced into too busy observing Gerald Wallace on the bench while Derozen did the dunk. His 4th dunk wasnt that stable yet nevertheless he replaced into the main suitable dunker interior the competition.

Isaiah Rider. His "east bay funk dunk" is still being ripped off today by so-called great dunkers. In any slam dunk competition there will at least be one person that does a variant of his dunk, and not the o so great jordan free throw dunk.As a matter of fact jordan ripped the free throw dunk from Dr. J.

Dominique Wilkins. The dunk contest now isn't nearly as good as it was when 'Nique ruled the court!

I think Best Slam DUnk Champ Ever shouldn't be crowned just yet, because :

1. There are still more Slam dunk Contest on the future, we'll
never know what happen'.
2. The world hasn't ended yet.

So, I think it's not fair...
