that happens to me all the time. Usually it happens when I am trying to compose a new song. The other day, I had this melody and thought it was really good and was practicing it on my guitar, when suddenly, I realized that I was more or less plagiarizing Coldplay's "Swallowed by the Sea."

In classic music, it happens a lot. I'll be humming the adagio of Beethoven's 9th and suddenly, it will turn into the very similar adagio of his Pathetique piano sonata.
