Rit makes a color remover. I've never used it, but it may be worth a try.

Just so you know, you dyed them grey, not died them. If they are solid white with no colour on them and a cotton or cotton/polyester blend material (with NO rayon, linen or silk blended into the material - check the tag for what it's made of) soak them in some chlorine bleach for maybe 1/2 an hour to an hour. Follow the directions on the bottle for amount of time and bleach, because if you leave them in too long with a high concentration of bleach it might eat through the material. If you're not sure what they are made of then you should either take them to a dry cleaner for advice or fess-up to your mother and let her deal with it. As a very last resort, offer to buy her another pair of shorts.

Use 1 half cup of bleach, and 2 quarts of cold water. Allow the "shorts" to soak in the bleach water for 15 minutes. They will be WHITE again. I've had this to happen to me on an accashion. I had washed a load of white clothes and somehow a RED sock, got in the wash too! lol Try what I've mentioned, it'll work, every time! ~Good Luck~

Hopefully you did not run them through the dryer which would set in the dye. If not you can try the following recipe
Whitening Soak recipe
1/2 cup bleach
1/4 cup dishwasher powder (such as Cascade)
1 gallon hot water
Soak clothes for 30 minutes, then launder as usual.

bleach may yellow them if you dont know what you are doing try getting some sort of run remover first such as rescue, soak them over night in warm water follow the instructions only leave them soak a bit longer, rinse them out full get a washing up bowl full of water add about two corks of THIN bleach (not the scented kind) leave them soak here overnight, then wash them in the washing machine on their own but add a sachet of clothes whitener,(not the one called blue as it isnt strictly a whitener) then once they come out of all that if they are still looking grey you will need to bin them as if that lot hasnt worked nothing will good luck

Get a clothes die for white clothes that should work i don't think bleach will do because bleach makes things a yellow colour 2? Or take them to a dry cleaners or laundrette they will no what to do. But don't try something if you are not sure coz it could make it worse

The answer to your problem is in the laundry/cleaning aisle of your local supermarket. Look for OxyClean; it restores your whites back to their sparkly brightnes. I don't recommend bleach because it can give delicate whites a yellowish tint. Follow the directions on the container under 'soaking' and bada-bing! Your mom's shorts will look brand new. Good luck!

Try adding clorox to the dispenser in your washing machine and run them through the wash. Good luck. I once dyed all the family clothes pink! the men were not pleased.

You need a color remover...NOT bleach! Try the Rit Color remover...or get what is called 'bluing.' I think the one I have is called Mrs. Stewart's(not martha) Bluing. That WILL take out color that is not suppose to be there.
